Description
The Biotime Cys-C Rapid Quantitative Test is a fluorescence immunoassay designed to measure cystatin C (Cys-C) concentration in whole blood and plasma samples. Cystatin C is a low molecular weight protein produced by all nucleated cells, freely filtered by the glomerulus, and entirely reabsorbed and catabolized in the renal tubules. It has been recognized as a superior biomarker for evaluating glomerular filtration rate (GFR) compared to serum creatinine, as it is less affected by factors such as age, gender, weight, and muscle mass.
This rapid test provides accurate results in just 5 minutes, facilitating timely diagnosis and monitoring of kidney function in clinical laboratories and point-of-care settings. The Cys-C test is particularly valuable for detecting early renal impairment and managing patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes, hypertension, or other conditions affecting kidney health.
