Description
The Biotime NGAL Rapid Quantitative Test is a fluorescence immunoassay designed for the quantitative measurement of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) levels in human urine. NGAL, also known as lipocalin-2 or siderocalin, is a promising biomarker for the early detection of acute kidney injury (AKI). Under normal physiological conditions, NGAL levels are very low; however, they rise sharply in response to kidney damage—often 24 hours or more before any detectable increase in serum creatinine.
This early rise in NGAL levels provides clinicians with a crucial diagnostic window to initiate timely management, improving patient prognosis and reducing medical costs. The Biotime NGAL test offers a rapid 10-minute turnaround, high sensitivity, and a wide detection range (10–5000 ng/mL), making it ideal for clinical laboratories, ICUs, nephrology departments, and emergency care settings.
