Description
The Biotime Lp-PLA2 Rapid Quantitative Test enables precise quantification of Lp-PLA2, an enzyme associated with vascular inflammation and plaque formation. Also known as platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH), Lp-PLA2 is synthesized by macrophages and lymphocytes and regulated by inflammatory mediators. By hydrolyzing phospholipids in low-density lipoproteins (LDL), it generates pro-inflammatory molecules that contribute to atherosclerosis.
As an independent biomarker, Lp-PLA2 serves as a specific indicator of vascular endothelial inflammation and offers valuable diagnostic insight into coronary artery disease risk. This rapid test provides results within 10 minutes and can be performed with minimal equipment, making it ideal for use in hospitals, laboratories, ICUs, and cardiology departments.
