Description
The Biotime NT-proBNP Rapid Quantitative Test is a diagnostic assay for the quantitative determination of NT-proBNP, a peptide marker secreted primarily by the ventricular myocardium. NT-proBNP is released in response to increased myocardial wall stress, making it a powerful biomarker for identifying and monitoring heart failure (HF).
The test utilizes fluorescence immunoassay technology to deliver accurate results within 15 minutes, offering high stability, minimal sample requirements, and strong resistance to drug interference. Compared to BNP, NT-proBNP has a longer half-life (90–120 minutes) and greater sensitivity in detecting mild or early-stage heart failure.
Clinicians can rely on this assay to differentiate cardiac from pulmonary causes of dyspnea, assess the degree of heart failure, and predict survival outcomes in patients with acute decompensated heart failure.
